Updates from our
last meetingÉ
The
results of the staff review were shared with the Building Leadership Team, but
have not yet been brought back to the whole staff for review. This will be a part of the next
building meeting.
Kennon
heard about an effective speaker on the topic of bullying who may be of
interest to our schools and she will follow up with more details. The Essex County District AttorneyÕs
office is scheduled to publish a bullying curriculum that will be available
after April 12th. We
will receive this and determine if it is a program that we would like to
use.
We
will focus on hosting a math night this year because of the new math program. The purpose is to help betters develop
a better understanding of the math concepts and how they are presented in the
new program. This can be
accomplished using math games and having student leaders at each grade serve as
experts. We will ask Carol Bratt,
our math specialist, to provide support as well.

How can we support
this work through our School Council?
Project-based learning and problem solving could be the focus of a
school wide science or social studies fair. Teachers will need time to collaborate in order to develop
more project-based learning experiences for students. Are there opportunities for our school to collaborate with
local businesses to promote 21st century skills? The council will continue to discuss
this topic and plan a course of action.
