- Kennon Anderson is joining the school
council this year and was not able to make this meeting. Martha Rowe will be serving on the
council for one more year.
- The dates for our meetings
include: 10/22, 11/19, 12/17,
1/28, 2/25, 3/25, 4/29, and 5/27
- As a result of our 2009 parent survey,
teachers have been providing regular classroom newsletters home by email
or posted to our website. This process was initiated in response to the identified need for
more frequent classroom communication.
- The parent survey also identified the
need to review the existing homework guidelines. An article on the topic was distributed and the council
will discuss our homework guidelines during our 10/22 meeting.
- The 2009 MCAS and Adequate Yearly
Progress (AYP) data was received from the state. The Buker School did not reach its AYP target goal for
performance or improvement in ELA this year. The math AYP target goal for performance was not met
however the improvement target goal was met and thus the Buker School made
its AYP for math. Brian will
send a letter home explaining the AYP status to families.
- The elementary school councils will
work collaboratively over the year to review the transportation policy and
make any necessary recommendations to the school committee.
