MSBA Approves $1.5 Funding for Cutler HVAC System

On September 30, the MA School Building Authority (MSBA) voted unanimously to reimburse the HWRSD for up to $652,206 (42.58%) of the Cutler HVAC System Replacement Project cost of $1,531,702.  The renovation is prompted by the need to replace the 57-year-old heating and ventilation system. A series of feasibility studies and thoughtful consideration of the best long-term solutions for Cutler resulted in the proposed $1.5 M plan that replaces the heating and ventilation system which will extend the life of Cutler as a school site for many years to come.  The unanimous vote of the MSBA signals their confidence in the project design and plan.

The Towns of Hamilton and Wenham will hold Special Town Meetings to approve the borrowing, contingent on the approval of a capital debt exclusion at a later date. The Special Town Meetings are planned as follows:

Hamilton                     Saturday, October 17                9:00 am                       Winthrop School

Wenham                      Thursday, November 12                       7:30 pm           Buker School

The town meetings must approve placing the Cutler HVAC Project on a ballot by a 2/3Ős vote of those present at the town meeting. If approved at the town meetings, a ballot question must be presented to the Hamilton and Wenham voters regarding the replacement of the Cutler HVAC system no later than January 28, 2010.
