Seniors Helping Seniors: a success story
After a one-year absence caused by the pandemic, the popular Seniors Helping Seniors event returned this year, when the members of the Class of ’21 gave back to the community by lending a helping hand to some special residents.
Senior citizens contact the high school to let us know the types of yard work or general chores they need help with at their house. Ms. Heitz organizes the jobs and then works with the seniors to develop teams that are assigned to a specific job.
Much of the yard work centers around raking, weeding and mulching, but can also include cleaning windows and light painting. The senior citizens are grateful that the seniors help them out and they truly enjoy making connections with our students.
Mrs. Foley of Blueberry Lane called the main office to commend the three young ladies we sent to her home, and said she was going to give a strong shoutout on Facebook to praise the students for how nice her yard looks. “They worked hard and had fun,” she said.
On Chebacco Road, Mr. Buono called to say the students he had were “hard-working, wonderful young ladies. They helped with mulching, weeding and planting.”
Outstanding job by all the members of the Class of ’21 who participated in this event.
